Comedy-starved prisoners ask police to arrest a funny comedian

The prospect of sharing a cell with Jim Davidson or Freddie Starr has failed to excite Britain’s prison population, who are hoping that someone funny like Michael McIntyre will be arrested.

‘Personally I’m not that into jokes about anal intercourse,’ said Wes Griffen, an attractive 28-year-old West Indian inmate with a congenital leg defect that makes it difficult to move very fast.

‘It’s the lazy racial stereotyping that leaves us cold’ noted Henry Fitzwilliam and William Fitzhenry, who shot to national prominence when holding up the Angel Court branch of the Allied Irish Bank while still wearing their monogrammed overalls.

Police are said to share the inmates’ frustration that their investigations are only nabbing 70s throwback comedians, and are carefully checking whether it is a crime to either be a sanctimonious prick or be named ‘Ben Elton’.
