Following the success of his BBC2 series ‘Great British Railway Journeys’, former Conservative Cabinet member Michael Portillo today embarked on a televised tour of Britain’s knocking shops.
‘Unlike my previous journeys, which borrowed heavily from the work of George Bradshaw’s Railway Guide, this time I will be relying on the 1996 edition of McCoy’s British Massage Parlour Guide,’ said Portillo. ‘It describes in some detail the sexual services that may be purchased up and down the length of the country. I can’t wait to retrace the steps of a previous era’s punters.’
Producers have yet to decide on a title for the new series, but Portillo thinks that Great British Shags is in with a fighting chance. The BBC has reassured viewers that as the film crew follows the presenter into brothels, the camera will tastefully pan away so that no one has to witness another ‘Portillo moment’.
