Manchester Utd criticised For ‘burying bad result news’ on day of Thatcher passing
The FA and several opposing club supporters trusts have criticised Manchester United Football Club for releasing news of their loss to rivals Manchester City on the day of ex Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s passing.
‘Monday was a very cynical day to announce the news of the 2-1 defeat’ stated incoming FA chairman Greg Dyke, continuing that ‘Rather than wait a few weeks until the nation’s attentions turned away from the sad headlines, Man U thought they could use this as a distraction to bury their own bad news’.
The proposed minute’s silence at the beginning of the game was cancelled after objections from the Noise Abatement Society.
