Convertible Day may not occur till May this year
Meteorologists and motoring organisations have agreed that, despite hopes, Convertible Day did not occur over the past weekend and may not happen for weeks to come.
Convertible Day is the one day a year when it is really enjoyable to drive a convertible car with the hood down, and usually occurs in early spring. Obviously it can’t be raining or too cold, but summer brings its own downside too, with insects, sunburn and increased pollution.
C-Day can’t occur when traffic is too heavy, so Mondays, Fridays and holiday periods are out. Sundays are popular but can be ruined by too many other convertibles and Micras on the road.
A spokesperson for the AA said the best bet is to get a car with a good sound system and climate control, play some Beach Boys and enjoy watching convertible drivers trying to look as if they are enjoying themselves.Click to send this story to a friend
