Joy Division musical hailed a triumphant failure
Torn Apart, the new musical based upon the songs of Mancunian arch-miserablists Joy Division, has been hailed a triumphant failure by its creators after opening to scathing reviews and abysmal ticket sales, delighting cast and crew alike.
Speaking from a deserted auditorium, director Emo Angst said: ‘It’s more than we’ve never hoped for. Such unremitting failure was beyond our wildest expectations – although we’re obviously being careful not to feel too pleased with ourselves. It just goes to show that if a dream’s worth having it clearly isn’t.’
Those members of the cast who survive the production are planning to reform and stage a more upbeat show based around the song Blue Monday.
