Suarez rejects Liverpool Care Pathway
Health officials in England have expressed concern that Liverpool FC’s treatment of the wantaway striker may have been used to hasten his exit, save money and put fans out of their misery.
The LCP, developed to support footballers near to advertising death, is meant to offer a peaceful and dignified transfer. The system can involve withdrawal of media attention, sponsorship logos and players to bite. The club has said it will not consider any bids below £40million and has already stopped offering bed baths to the Uruguayan star. The family and agent of the 26-year-old are concerned that Liverpool FC are not respecting his ‘final wishes’ for a massive tax-free transfer bonus.
A Department of Health spokesman said: ‘An independent review of the treatment of Luis Suarez concludes that he should be offered a more continental option. We recommend that Arsene Wenger be permitted to administer the “Arsenal Dignitas” route, which has been so successful in smothering the incoherent ramblings of Ian Wright.’Click to send this story to a friend
