Labour has ‘very clear’ policies on Water Voles to put to voters at the general election, according to a spokesman for the Labour leader.
‘Ed has thought through the implications of the decline in the Water Vole population and has a very clear and detailed policy to put before voters,’ he said.
Miliband has often been accused of having no major policies, but with the unveiling of a major policy on Water Voles the party hopes to seize the initiative from the Tories.
‘Of course,’ the spokesman added, ‘we can’t be expected to spell out the details of the party’s Water Vole policy with the general election still almost two years away.’
The party hopes its policy will have an impact in Water Vole strongholds in Snowdonia, in the Fens and in the Somerset Levels. ‘But we think it will be a hit with all riverbank dwellers,’ the spokesman said.
