Man wins £10,000 in bet on match fixing arrest

A Nottingham man is enjoying a £10,000 win after successfully predicting the arrest of six people including ex-Birmingham City striker DJ Campbell on suspicion of fixing football matches. Malcolm Burnett put the £50 bet on at a Ladbrokes in the city centre on Friday morning and was delighted as he heard the news break on Monday morning.

‘Good luck really seems to come in droves,’ said Burnett. ‘I’d won the money off the office celebrity death pool by pulling Nelson Mandela’s name out of the hat back in January and was just seized with the idea of betting on this.’

Ladbrokes congratulated Burnett for his success, then revealed that one local punter had just bet £100 with them at odds of 14/1 that Burnett himself would be among a wave of people to be arrested over the weekend for ‘fixing of match fixing’.
