Power companies reduce Christmas bills by cutting off power

Britain’s much maligned energy companies have responded to criticism that electricity bills were too high by cutting off all power to large swathes of the country. ‘At this time cold and dark time of year, people tend to use a lot of energy and so their costs are higher than normal.’ explained the chief executive of NoPower. ‘But by cutting off their electricity completely, we expect their consumption to drop to an average of 0 kilowatts a week.’

Grateful electricity customers have been celebrating the power companies generous power-cuts over the Christmas holiday. One customer enthused; ‘Normally, we spend a fortune on heating, lighting and TV but all that’s been saved by this brilliant initiative.’
