David Cameron has announced earlier today the discovery of ‘coal’ by a team of geologists in South Yorkshire. Coal is a scarce carbon-based resource used to produce energy, which has fuelled the economies of many nations and has the potential to do the same here, the PM asserted.
‘Despite claims by environmentalists, technological advances in the extraction of coal, through a process known as ‘mining’, mean that this vital fuel resource can be harnessed relatively simply, with minimal impact on the environment,’ Cameron said, but local residents are not convinced.
‘Where will it all end?’ asked local councillor Arthur Scargill. ‘We have worked for years to improve the image of this community and attract new businesses. This will destroy the local environment and do untold damage to wildlife. It’s a fracking disaster.’
