Actors are finally to be given the recognition they deserve in a low key ceremony planned for this March. After years of toiling quietly, the public and movie producers have decided to reward these hard working folk with modest gold statues, a smattering of applause and maybe even, who knows, small sponsorship deals.
‘If we’re in an HBO show or a big movie, that can literally be day after day until our first contracted holiday, and that’s a long time to remember lines and then say them out loud,’ a representative from the Screen Actor’s Guild commented today. ‘I sometimes wonder if we give too much of ourselves, but a little ceremony like this will cheer everyone up and keep us going. Hey, maybe we should do it every year?’
It’s still undecided if there will be a standing ovation for the winner of ‘Best Actor’, but pundits aren’t ruling it out.
