At the Old Bailey tthis week, Rebekah Brooks has declared in her defence that she was ‘unaware’ that she had been the editor of a national newspaper, or indeed that a profession known as ‘journalism’ existed. She has denied being acquainted with Andy Coulson, Ross Kemp, Glenn Mulcaire or anyone with the surname Murdoch. She denied ever having used the name ‘Rebekah Brooks’ and strongly refuted the allegation that water flows downhill.
The trail then adjourned to give the prosecution time to prepare questions to Ms Brooks on her awareness of the religious beliefs of the Pope and where bears defecate.
