Food banks throughout the country are encouraging the public to take photographs of strangers who ‘look a bit hungry’ and then post them on Facebook to highlight malnourishment. For each picture posted, it is expected that someone will donate a tin of baked beans. The move comes after the success of the ‘naked cancer’ selfie, in which narcissistic cancer sympathisers raised millions by taking strategic photos of themselves in poorly lit rooms.
The food banks are hoping to capitalise on the success of the initiative and increase baked bean donations dramatically. Critics fear that the idea will spawn a culture of stalking those with a fast metabolism, or anorexia sufferers, but Victoria Beckham is said to be delighted at the possibility of someone taking her picture again.
