Queen demands pay rise as Rebekah Brooks trial ‘cost more than the Royal Family’
Following the revelation that the Rebekah Brooks trial cost £100m, compared with the £36m cost of the entire Royal Family, Her Majesty has today said that, ‘on the grounds of parity, we have submitted a demand for a pay rise, and we have decided to take industrial action forthwith in support of our claim’.
On an official Royal engagement this week the Queen was reported to have sat stony faced, gazing straight ahead with her arms folded, resolutely declining to wave. A spokesman for the National Union of Monarchs described the strike as ‘100% solid, with the complete support of the entire membership. In a ballot, there was a 100% turnout of the member, who unanimously supported her own proposal.’
