Rolf Harris verdict: ‘Cook should resign,’ says Warne

Shane Warne has pulled no punches in his reaction to the Rolf Harris guilty verdict. ‘Alistair Cook has to go,’ said the frozen-faced Aussie. “Those last eight overs before tea last week were the worst captaincy I’ve seen in 150 years of watching cricket.’

Asked if Rolf’s reputation and legacy was now in tatters, Warne responded. ‘Cook lost 5-0 in the Ashes and is losing in all forms of the game. He needs to resign, step back or have a complete break.’

When pushed for a final word on the whole saga of 1970s celebrities being tried for sexual abuse, Warney said it was a tragedy for English cricket. ‘Cook needs to divorce his wife, forget cricket, give up farming and become a monk.’
