Greece! The musical

Includes the number 'Hopelessly Indebted To You'

West-end backers today announced the launch of a new musical, Greece! Promoters have described it as a lively tale of one country and one continent trying to overcome their differences and let their natural love express itself. Like all the best romantic musicals it is packed full of will-they-won’t-they tension, songs you’ll want to hear time and again, and plenty of ups and downs between the protagonists. Audiences are advised not to expect a happy ending.

We are proud to bring you this exclusive extract from one of the show’s most memorable numbers:

Angie Merkel, Nicky Sarkozy and other EU heads of state are on stage singing and dancing around Georgie Papandreou.

Georgie:
I got bills.
They’re multiplyin’.
And I’m losin’ control.
‘Cause the interest
You’re applyin’,
It’s electrifyin’!

Angie:
You better stump up,
‘Cause I need a grand
And my heart is set on you.
You better shape up;
You better understand
To your debts you must be true.

Chorus (all EU member states, except Greece):
You’re the one we don’t want.
(The one we don’t want)
Ooh, ooh, oooh!
It’s your money we want.
(Your money we really want)
Ooh, ooh, ooooooh!
It’s cash we nee-eed.
Oh, yes indee-eed!

Repeat chorus.
