Dom Joly, who made his fortune as a mobile phone giant by shouting into a giant mobile phone, is to be forbidden non-domiciled tax status, according to HMRC. Non Dom Dom Joly will either have to live in his native abroad or revert to his original Dom Joly status.
The news came after a long-term undercover sting operation, much of it filmed and broadcast as comedy on Channel 4, in which the then Non Dom Dom hoodwinked members of the public by dressing up as a giant squirrel and playing quiet Dandy Warhols tracks to lure them into a false sense of insecurity – a practice expressly forbidden under UK tax law. Later, it is alleged, Non Dom Dom moved to Hong Kong where he wrote the legendary cookbook ‘Non Dom Dom’s Dim Sum.’
Meanwhile, Cameron Macintosh has announced a new musical in which Adam Ant will play Adam Adamant and vice versa in alternate performances.
