Cheshire County Council have issued an apology to local resident Peter King after he recently got a ticket for bad parking even though he had his hazard warning lights on.
‘We regret this incident immensely”, said local councillor Jackie Bondite, ‘We were unaware that Mr King had switched his hazard warning lights on whilst blocking the Junction just off North Street, otherwise we obviously wouldn’t have issued a ticket’.
Nantwich fire fighters also took to Twitter to retract their initial frustration about not being able to get through to fight a fire at B&M’s, as they made the same error as the council in missing the lights. ‘We always except shit, life threatening parking, but only if the lights are flashing’.
The councillor’s apology backs up the recent government ruling that allows the public to park anywhere, at any time, but only in conjunction with Hazard Warning lights. Mr King later drove away from the incident, the wrong way up a one-way street, but legally because he was in reverse.
