The wife of the House of Commons Speaker John Bercow has hit out at a South Wales bus company’s advert, which depicted a naked young woman holding a sign suggesting she could be ridden all day for only £3.
‘That’s far too much,’ she sobbed outside her £1.2million mews house by the Thames in Battersea, South London. ‘It gives completely the wrong impression when there are many opportunities in life to get a ride for free. Trust me, I know about these things.’
The Cardiff based company behind the ad, New Adventure Travel, has now removed it but has seen a huge increase in passengers using its services.
’This sort of thing does public transport no favours,’ added Mrs Bercow, ‘but it does go to show, I suppose, that there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Trust me, I know about these things.’
