Boy band One Direction have today surprised their fans by releasing a 22 minute cover version of ‘The Gates of Delirium’ by the prog rock band Yes.
‘It is a bit of a departure for the band musically, what with the intro being longer than the age of their fans and the complex time changes means it’s a million miles away from the pure pop of ‘Steal My Girl’ but they feel they want to take a ‘new’ direction and this song fits the brief perfectly’ said a spokesman for the group.
The fans parents’, however, are deeply disturbed by the song. ‘What next?’ said father of 10-year-old Shania, ‘Is my daughter going to come home smoking a pipe, donning a badly-fitted trenchcoat and sneaking off to her room with her friends to roll a joint over a gatefold sleeve to discuss the deep metaphysical meaning of lyrics such as ‘friction spans the spirits wrath ascending to redeem? I think I prefer her screaming in my ear for the latest iphone to be honest.’
