After a successful pilot episode last week, the ‘big shake up’ to the popular midday Wednesday slot, wacky DJ pairing Jez ‘ the Hairy Quorn Flake’ Corbyn and Davey Cameron will continue, with the show being presented in its new format, more in tune with the public’s insatiable demand to misunderstand the nature of representative democracy.
‘DJJD’ as the pair style themselves on promotional billboard posters (‘They can’t agree about ANYTHING!’) are experimenting with a format borrowed from many popular breakfast shows, where a pair of supposedly likeable people discuss burning issues of the day in a simplistic and asinine manner, periodically reading out fatuous tweets from the public. Last week’s show included a dedication to Maureen from Stockport, who wanted to know why all the hospitals are closing. ‘Just for you, Maureen, here’s the Manic Street Preachers with ‘If you Tolerate This, Then Your Children Will be Next’’ replied the zany pair.
The pair have also borrowed the idea of a posse, who laugh at their jokes and offer the occasional comment, as well as a number of comic characters who ‘drop in’, such as Austerity George and Mad Old Dennis.
