The Russian Air Force has begun bombing operations on Syria, in Ukraine. Major Owen Schnauzmann of the US Air Force confirmed that the first strikes in support of the much maligned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad centred around Eastern Ukraine where Russian intelligence says a great deal of the Syrian rebel forces are co-ordinating activities and manning a key supply route.
‘To effectively support the efforts of the Syrian state we must first look at the foundations of the rebel support and deal with it. This is clearly centred around Eastern Ukraine and could well find itself in other areas of Ukraine also,’ Schhauzmann said. ‘Maybe they’re in the Baltic states too. And probably a loads more in Georgia and maybe even Finland. They look really Arab-y and they’re probably Communists in any case.’
