Starbucks Christmas colours ‘are protest against tampon tax’

In a move that market analysts say is sure to be popular with their EU female clientele, Starbucks have revealed that their new Christmas cup is a protest against the EU’s tax on female sanitary products.

‘We’d like to get closer to our female customers and let them know we care,’ said Noel Scholl, Starbucks Chief Christmas Officer. ‘We thought what better way was there to show our sisterly solidarity but to conflate the traditional colour of Christmas with menstrual blood?’ He went on to explain that, whilst it was not a traditional Christmas image, it was certainly something that would draw parallels with the cyclical holiday period.
