Britain Out Of Europe is turning to Star Trek in a final appeal to voters ahead of tonight’s referendum. One of the campaign’s leading figures, John Redwood, will be dressed as a Vulcan when he hands out leaflets to members of the public in central London today. ‘We can also use Spock as a metaphor,’ a spokesman explained. ‘To emphasise that we in Brexit are not against aliens. So it’s a win win strategy’.
His view was echoed by UKIP leader Nigel Farage, who gave the Spock-a-like idea a big thumbs up. Mr Farage said the public could be swayed by endorsements iconic fictional characters – such as himself: ‘Those Vulcan chaps are highly intelligent and skilled. I wouldn’t mind having one as my next door neighbour or opening up trade deals with them’.
However Star Trek’s owners are taking out a court injunction to halt the Brexit stunt; one lawyer said: ‘We haven’t given the go ahead. And besides we feel the Star Trek crew would actually vote for Remain. When it comes to being in or out of Europe, they would want Britain to Kling-on’.
