Arab fancy dress costume stocks at all time low

A senior spokesman for a leading UK fancy dress industry provider has warned that stocks of Arab sheikh outfits are now so low in some parts of London that undercover stings by the press may have to be postponed. Simon Dujardin, head of procurement for Sheiks-R-Us, reported that 95% of all thawbs and Arabian robes had been bought up in the past year by just two national newspapers.

The situation is apparently now so acute that journalists are sometimes relying on home-made garments, often comprising tea towels and fitted polyester sheets, while a recent attempt by the Daily Express to expose a footballer involved in the laundering of fake pukka pies, had to be abandoned after a velcro failure led to the interviewer’s beard falling into his pint and ham sandwich.
