‘No regrets’, says commuter trapped in Underground train door

LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM - FEBRUARY 5: Members of the Rail Maritime Transport Workers Union (RMT) and The Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) unions employed by London Underground begin a 48 hour strike because of almost 1000 workers disemployment and closing the ticket office in London, England on February 5, 2014. A London commuter has broken his neck after catapulting himself towards the closing doors of a Central Line Tube carriage. Following complex surgery to remove a damaged intervertebral disc, Tom Denton, 27, said that he had ‘no regrets’, despite having to wait no longer than two minutes for the next arrival. ‘I admit that it wasn’t a Jason Bourne life-or-death situation, but who wants to be late for the auditors?’ he asked.

‘He actually came across as a bit melodramatic,’ said eyewitness Margaret Evans. ‘But it’s London, so once everybody guessed from his light manbag and the absence of a beard that he wasn’t one of those ISIS types, they kept their heads down and continued to play on their phones. Having WiFi on the London Underground is a real blessing.’
