Big Ben to be fitted with four digital displays.

London took an important step to embrace 21st century technology, or at the very least somewhere in the early 1980s.  The proposal will see Big Ben’s familiar chimes being replaced by a digital alarm clock, with the even more familiar irritating electronic – ‘Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep…’

The clock tower will have a huge, traditional, red, LED 7-segment display on each side.  Not some ‘nancy modern hi-res full-colour screen’.  ‘The cancellation of the Garden Bridge frees up enough funds to allow a proper modern design’, Sadiq Khan announced today. ‘And we’re hoping to replace Buckingham Palace with a Weatherspoons’.
