A poll has revealed that Theresa May’s popularity has fallen further following Donald Trump’s tweeted reaction to her criticism of him.
Mrs May had said Mr Trump was wrong to re-tweet videos from far right extremist Britain First, leading Mr Trump to tweet that she should focus on combatting terrorism, not him. However, his fast response has left many disillusioned with Mrs May. The poll also reveals that had she handle the situation differently her popularity would have reached heights that no modern leader has achieved.
‘If Mrs May had just replied ‘f*** off you orange headed extremist’, she would have doubled her poll rating’, a spokesperson for the firm behind the poll said. ‘If she had said ‘You are a fascist, unfit for office and not welcome in our country’, then our poll suggests street parties would have been held in her honour, Prince Harry would have invited her on his stag do and she would have had the Christmas number one single with her conference speech – obviously that would be a re-mix without the coughing segments.’
‘By not making these responses, or even mentioning US gun crime statistics in response to Mr Trump’s claim that ‘We are doing just fine!’, Mrs May’s popularity has fallen to the same level as the cast of Mrs Brown’s Boys following the leaking of the Paradise Papers.’
