Kate Bush has announced that she is set to re-form and is planning to work together on new material. The news follows days of speculation after Bush posted a selfie on Twitter with the words ‘lovely to see this girl is alive and well’
Bush famously split in 2014 at the end of her sell-out ‘Before The Dawn’ residency at London’s Hammersmith Apollo citing ‘artistic differences’ and admitting that she had been gradually growing apart for several years. News of Bush’s reunion has taken many music insiders by surprise.
‘The break-up was so acrimonious that there seemed little chance that Kate Bush would ever work together again’, says music journalist Justin Roberts.
‘At the end of the Hammersmith Apollo residency tales of dressing room bust-ups were rife. The main problem seemed to be a disagreement over the musical direction and, of course, royalties. Its great that she is going to reunite. I just hope she can stand to be in the same room as herself again’.
In a rare interview Bush told BBC 6 Music that the time had come for her to put her differences aside and ‘explore some incredible new opportunities together’
‘I’m working on an album based on Newton’s laws of motion’, said Bush. ‘I can’t say too much about it except that its likely to be brilliant and totally bloody bonkers in equal measure. As per’.
