Gower residents have not been at all surprised to learn that the 2017 election defeat of Conservative MP Byron Davies was caused by an apparently defamatory tweet by Dan from Swansea.
‘Our Byron won Gower from Labour by a resounding 27 votes in 2015′, Betty from Pennard revealed. ‘We were all delighted, and you can imagine our excitement when we realised that all those nice people from UKIP would probably vote for him too when the next election was announced, now their work was done!’
However, Betty had not counted on Dan’s tweet, which was apparently ‘liked’ by an overwhelming seven people, which made it one of Dan’s most highly regarded publications and a dangerous threat to the Tory MP’s campaign.
A Green Party spokesperson said ‘ We had thought we had something to do with it really, what with us and the Monster Raving Loonies not standing in 2017. We see it now though. There’s apparently little doubt that Byron’s 2017 defeat by 3,269 votes was, in fact, all down to a tweet. Praps we need Dan on our side next time, it seems to have made all the difference’.
