After months of speculation the government has finally taken control of the struggling East Coast Main Line, to hand over to the O’Jays in 2020.
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling commented: ‘Previous operators of the East Coast Main Line, Stagecoach and Virgin Trains, weren’t giving customers enough love and satisfaction. The O’Jays, with their flagship ‘Love Train’ have consistently delivered customer well being, on time, for the past four decades.’
‘The US R&B franchise’s message of diversity and inclusivity, encouraging people all over the world to join hands and start a love train, a love train, is fundamentally synchronous with our core mission at the Department of Transport. We’ve joined hands. It was a no-brainer.’
Currently running internationally in Russia, China, Africa, Egypt and Israel, the O’Jays plan to scale-down the love train’s operation in time to cover Edinburgh, Durham, York, Doncaster and Potters Bar.
