News that for the first time in 13 years Doctor Who has been dropped from the Christmas Day TV schedule has prompted calls for a leadership change.
Angus Brown, lifetime fan and deputy treasurer of the Doctor Who Fan Club (Worthing Branch) read out this statement “This is the day of reckoning. I and the rest of the fan club are calling for a vote of no confidence in Jodie Whittaker’s leadership. This is the final humiliation on an international stage, despite biased media attempts to spin it as a bright new beginning.’
She took the reins after a frankly untransparent selection process’, continued Brown. Initially this was full of promise but its ended up with a bugger’s muddle of an approach which satisfies neither the faction who were happy with the status quo nor those who wanted to depart in a bold new direction.’
‘Rather than show leadership she has tried to please every minority out there at once’, Brown continued. ‘She has split the country and her support is dwindling week by week. Time and again she has bowed to alien interests. Enough is enough, we need regeneration. Send the letters in to the BBC!’
Michael Gove is understood to have expressed interest in the role.
