Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May join The Independent Group

In a surprise move today the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition joined the Labour and Conservative rebels who have walked away from their respective Parties. ‘It was a no-brainer,’ said the Prime Minister today. ‘I never liked the idea of Brexit but as the Party leader there was a certain expectation I would toe the party line. Now I can go for a shit anywhere and anytime I like and not be accused of selling the country down the line.’

Jeremy Corbyn put it a little differently. ‘I didn’t mind Brexit, truth be known. I mean choosing one nationality, say the Welsh, over another such as the Germans, French, Italians, Portuguese and especially the Dutch is one thing, but not being able to associate with someone who grows tomatoes down the allotment without being branded a terrorist appeaser is another.’

It’s expected that about 616 other MPs are likely to make the walk to the Independent Group over the next few days. The Lib Dems are reluctant as they don’t want to walk into another leaderless party, but it is thought that they’ll do so out of habit anyway. ‘Which just leaves the DUP as the only single party with a formal party structure leading the country,’ pointed out an expert today. ‘What could possibly go wrong?’
