A man who voted for Brexit has declared that Cambridge’s Boat Race success has settled the matter for ever.
“Clearly Cambridge have the stronger rowing team, so not only is there no need for another race, but another race would be an insult to all the rowers and their supporters” he said.
Asked if another race would be possible should Oxford field a future team that had better rowers than Cambridge he said “you just want a re-run of the first race because you can’t take losing”.
Dismissing claims that the loss of this beloved sporting stalwart has severely damaged the UK’s international standing, he said “we’ve not ‘lost’ anything. By cancelling the boat race without stipulating how, I’ve made it so the race will still, actually, continue…just, from now on…without boats.”
