After Game of Thrones and Line of Duty left fans disappointed with the writing in recent episodes, the Brexit drama has been slammed for writing a poor ending to the Theresa May story-line.
Many have suggested her story-line was one of redemption and the failure to deliver this has irked some fans. “She hated foreigners, who else was better suited to destroy Brexit?. Surely she was the one who who was promised to save the country?” claimed Jeremy from Solihull. “Daenerys turned mad in a few episodes, Theresa was incompetent from the start, we all thought that was a ploy and she would save the day but it was just poor writing!”
Some fans claim they have known the plot for a long time. Gary from Telford is one such fan. “We all knew her story-line would end in failure, who keeps flogging a dead horse like her deal? I would rather trust Ted Hatings to invest my life savings than Theresa May to run my country.”
Fans of the show, like Selena from Boston, have suggested they wanted more than was offered. “I wanted a dramatic scene where Gove appears from nowhere and stabbed May in the chest, subverting the expectations of the fan-base where he was expected to stab her in the back, instead he backed her to the end, dreadful writing!”
Viewers have questioned her notice period claiming this is the moment the Brexit story-line jumped the shark.“I stack shelves in Asda and I have to give 4 weeks notice,” stated Mary from Airdrie, “No way the most important person in the country only has to give 2 weeks notice!”
Others have questioned the decision to ruin the ‘Theresa is a robot’ fan theory by having her show emotion just as her story-line comes to an end. “They tried to play on our emotions with her almost crying in her leaving speech destroying the android theory, such a shame that was the only emotion her character showed since the start of the show!” Kris from Leamington Spa announced. “I actually would have preferred if Boris came in, declared his love, stabbed her, and a dragon flew her to Bournemouth!”
