Despite rumours to the contrary, the new series of BBC One’s popular celebrity ancestry show will not feature future PM Boris Johnson.
It was believed that Johnson had agreed to take part, and indeed initial research had commenced, prior to the current leadership campaign. However a spokesperson for Johnson disputed this, saying that: ‘while Boris has a fascinating back story, he doesn’t think it would be fair to receive such exposure compared to that of the other candidates’.
The BBC issued a confirmatory statement. ‘Reports that the new series of WDYTYA, as we call it, would feature a leading political figure are grossly inaccurate’.
Meanwhile one rival in the Tory leadership race commented: ‘I’d say Boris might be better suited to a late night show called “Who the Fuck Does He Think He Is?”
