Love Island star Sherif Lanre has been expelled from ITV2’s Love Island for not choosing the Labour Party in the couplings and recouplings.
‘We didn’t get on brilliantly at first but when Anna chose me in the recoupling, and because of the hopeless incoherence of Labour’s position, particularly that of Jeremy Corbyn, throughout the Brexit process, I didn’t refuse her, and I stand by that decision.’
Sherif added: ‘I broke party rules and as a result agreed with Jeremy and Momentum, it was decided it would be best if I left.’
Fellow contestant Anton found the move ‘particularly sad and disappointing’ and conceded it ‘comes at a time when finally the Labour Party seems to be trying to move in what I would define as a sensible, credible, coherent position on Brexit. But, Anna is fit.’
It’s understood Sherif will now stand as an Independent reality star as part of a collaborative with contestants from Take Me Out.
