Chris Grayling has confirmed that he is stepping down as Transport Secretary and that he has written a letter of resignation to Jeremy Corbyn to inform him.
He told reporters: ‘I have had a successful tenure in office, with many successes under my belt. My colleagues in the Labour Party have always been extremely supportive, however I think the time is now right to make way for a new man or woman in light of Jeremy Hunt having been asked to form a new government.’
‘I shall now spend my time helping British businesses achieve their goals by using my not inconsiderable skills as a leading light in logistics and business know how.’ When asked what he though of Mr Grayling stepping down Jeremy Corbyn said: ‘Excuse me. Who?’
