Solihull dad does lap of honour after correctly guessing the murderer on Poirot

Stephen Trotter, of Solihull has just entered the Guiness Book of Records for the longest ever lap of honour of a sitting room. It started last Tuesday evening after he correctly guessed the name of the murderer in an episode of Poirot on ITV3 +1.

“It was exactly 3 hours and 12 minutes,” confirmed his son, Jayden, 13, who filmed the entire incident on his iPhone 4. “I am getting an iPhone X soon, though” he added.

“As soon as he said who it was, what done the murder, that was it,” Mr Trotter told our reporter. “I just pulled the front of my jumper over my head and started running around and screaming.”

“I couldn’t believe it, either,” said Mrs Trotter, 34. “He’s never got anything like that right before. All the way through it, he kept saying, it was him, that one, him, there, the one with the beard, no, not him, him. I was so impressed. I always said he should have been a copper, if he didn’t have a record longer than his arm. I’ve never seen him so excited. I don’t even mind that he smashed my mother’s urn.”

The Trotters’ daughter, 16 year old Aleesha, was less impressed. “I think he’s a total embarrassment,” she said. “and anyway, he’s seen it before.”
