Arthur Miller’s ‘Death of an Audience’ comes to the West End

Theatre Land

For the first time in many years, Arthur Miller’s seminal work “Death of an Audience” is coming to London’s West End for a very short season.

Seen by many as a devastating critique of capitalism, the show will see hundreds of people pay eye-watering prices to sit in a theatre that isn’t even safe.

The climax comes when a building inspector rushes onstage and declares that ‘attention must be paid to the dilapidated state of the building, preferably before the damn roof falls in’.

The production has already garnered widespread praise, the Institute of Chartered Surveyors raving that it ‘brought the house down but it must end soon’, the Health and Safety Executive advising ‘theatre-goers will need to act quickly.’
