A premier league football star was found writhing in agony close to aisle 7 in Waitrose this afternoon after what some witnesses described as ‘minimal contact’ with a fellow customer’s shopping trolley.
The incident happened close to the meat aisle. Shoppers watched in shock as the footballer fell to the ground, clutching his ankle before proceeding to roll all the way to the fruit and veg counter on aisle 9. The contact came after both had noticed the last piece of fillet steak out on display.
One customer said. ‘They both went for it, I’d say it was 50/50.’
Waitrose store manager Danny James witnessed the whole incident, worried that there may be repercussions and possibly a lawsuit argued. ‘The premiership lad was definitely going away from the bit of steak, he knew he wasn’t going to make it and in my honest opinion, it looks like he’s left his leg dangling waiting for impact from the trolley.’
Having reviewed the incident on CCTV, match of the day pundit Alan Shearer said that while the contact from the trolley was soft the premiership star had every right to go to ground agreeing with the final decision that he should be awarded the steak.
