Following days of debate and accusations of cowardice Boris Johnson has agreed to be grilled on air, but only by One Show presenters Alex Jones and Matt Baker.
‘Crikey, what, they gave Theresa a real grilling when the interviewed her,’ said Boris today, referring the car crash interview where they asked the then Prime Minister what the naughtiest thing she had ever done was. Critics have pointed out that ‘running through a field of wheat’ admission made the BBC interview the laughing stock of the political world, however unlikely support for the interview has come from Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn.
‘If they asked Jo Swinson that question I expect she might reveal she had added water to a dram of whisky while breast feeding. Or if I’d been asked that question I’d have had to admit to swapping my marrow for a competitor’s in 1980 at a show. I came forty seventh, he got third prize,’ said Jeremy.
‘But if they asked Boris that question well, how long have the BBC got? Lying to the electorate, to his wife, to Parliament, to the Queen? Burning a fifty pound note in front of a down and out? Stereotyping the working class, single mums, Scousers in order to fill a lousy need to fill a column?
‘Or donning a pig’s head when David Cameron was being inducted into the Bullington Club? You decide,’ he said.
