Despite living in London for many years and being intensively coached, well known detective, Hercule Poirot, admits that he still doesn’t know how to use some relatively common English words.
Speaking to a reporter, Mr Poirot, “It is true. I can speak English perfectly, albeit with a slight accent, but for some reason – almost as if someone wants to emphasise that I’m not British – the odd word still comes out in French.”
When asked if Mr Poirot could think of an example, he replied, “Oui, Madame. Damn.”
