Plans to retrofit a 16th century warship with a flight deck and heliport have been given the go-ahead announced Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson.
The news comes just days after a restored Spitfire returned home following a successful round world trip. ‘It sends out a signal to the rest of the world that we mean business. Once again our armed forces will be the envy of the world’ purred Williamson…. ‘the Mary Rose, with its new flight deck, and the restored Spitfire will spearhead our defences well into the 21st century.
There is no doubt that under a Corbyn led government UK defence budgets would be slashed …. sending out the Mary Rose, stripped of its cannonball and gunpowder and hiring Polish fighter pilots to fly the Spitfire.’
Williiamson also announced that all personnel serving in the Royal Navy will be issued with their own shed door.
