A woman has won the Miss World contest, despite most people not realising that such an event was still in existence. The woman from Jamaica, whose name apparently doesn’t matter, was crowned Miss World at the Ad Excel in London while everyone was still reeling from the election result or thinking about the Strictly final or Sports Personality of the Year. Miss World herself expressed surprise to be crowned winner, as she herself had no idea the outdated beauty pageant still took place, and was only passing the building when she was asked if she would mind popping inside for five minutes so they could find someone to give the crown to.
In her acceptance speech, the new Miss World said she hoped ‘to travel, to work with children, to help worth charities and to help end the objectification of women via patriarchal cattle markets, that objectify women, measuring them according to their attractiveness to men and stripping them of status, agency and intellect.’
‘She was a very worthy winner’, said Miss World judge Piers Morgan, who is no longer still a thing.
