EPL Directors are meeting up early next week to discuss how many penalties Manchester United will be awarded during the 2020-2021 season.
Although Utd were awarded 13 of the 79 penalties (a risible 16.5%) during this season’s Premier League fixtures, EPL hierarchy say it is not nearly enough and the low count could see some match officials losing their top flight status. ‘This season the aim was to get Manchester United back in the Champions League’ explained EPL’s Dick Harry ‘ and although we achieved that goal there were times when the outcome was touch and go. It was too close for comfort and we can’t allow that sort of thing to happen again next season.
If United are to win the league next year they will need more help from on-field referees and VAR operatives than that…..and it is our job to make sure it happens. But with another London club joining the Premiership next season at least Utd supporters won’t have to do so much travelling to see it happen’.
