You Write the News
If you would like to write for NewsBiscuit please post your article on the submission board. There it can be read by regular NewsBiscuit readers and the highest rated stuff will be considered for inclusion on the main pages, (although unfortunately it will still have to make us laugh too…).
What do you get for getting your stuff on? Well nothing other than the satisfaction of bringing a smile to the readers of the site and seeing it up there with your name at the end. At the moment we are mainly looking for spoof news stories – hopefully the style is obvious from what is already up there - but other ideas for the features page are welcome too. Do not feel constrained by up-to-the-minute topicality, all sorts of things make it onto the board. For more information have a look at the Guidelines for Contributors. If you object to your stuff being savagely cut-down, completely rewritten, ruined etc. then this might not be the site for you.
Even if your stuff does not make it onto the site, please do not feel you are wasting your time, because the submissions board is experiences heavy traffic, so many people will already be reading your stuff. Feel free to add comments, suggested extra jokes, punchlines or whatever - it might help someone else’s story story make the jump over to the front page.
Not every half-decent idea can make it to the site proper and it might be that sometime we just take the headline and put it in the scrolling headlines box on the front page. If we do this we will try to link it to your original article on the submissions board. You’ll need to register to submit stuff – not least because we might want to contact you if you are the winner of the coveted NewsBiscuit Writer of the Month award. Like the chat room, the submission board is monitored and inappropriate material will be deleted, so don’t please don’t put up racist one-liners, material stolen from The Onion or private small ads for your broken printer.
Best of luck…
