Would they cancel the Queen's Speech if he succumbed ?
The very fabric of Christmas afternoon is under threatPosted 9 years ago # -
Good point. That'd bugger up everyone's cue to nap.

Would they get a two-for-one deal on a state funeral with Mrs T?

Like we'd all miss another greek who doesn't pay any tax

Bonjo, that was pretty funny. I think that Zsa Zsa will in a legless race to the finish.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Very good Bonjo.
I'll take a George Michael, Maggie Thatcher, Nelson Mandela and Vera Lynn accumulator.
Just for dramatic irony, I'll call Maggie and Nelson to go so close together they'll both be dead but unburied simultaneously, and there'll be huge debate about staggering the funerals, comparatives etc.
You heard it here first....

Ok then, in the last few days of a dying year, it's a tradition that a famous name goes.
Who is your call for the "End of year Celeb death"?
I'm going for Phil the Greek.

I was outraged to read in The Soar-away Sun yesterday that Phil had been released from hospital to attend a shooting party. I am so against that. They could just have let the old boy cark it on a gurney in an NHS hospital as is the done thing in Blighty...

I'll take Dennis Healy, Doris Lessing and the idea of the Royals throwing us all a curve ball and one of them leaving this vale of tears whose name isn't Philip.
Posted 9 years ago # -
And, now I've had a little think, I'll also take George Bush Sr.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Maz, it's what the old boy would want.
Especially now that they can't do it the traditional way and just release a pack of hounds to hunt him down and rip his throat out.Shitsu, and interesting selection with a nice outsider or two in there.
I'd love to see Thatcher go, but only if she could be tied to a New Year firework in one of the austerity measures rather than given the State send off she thinks she's getting.
Still have a soft spot for old Nelson, and would quite like to see him live on.

I'd like to go for Ariel Sharon - or have I missed his going in recent months? Last heard of he was still suffering from a severe case of ME/in a coma after all those years. I wonder if he's still getting his salary and/or pension.
I'm with Jeni on Nelson, who seems to have made the tricky 'second album' change from that-bloke-in-prison to International Treasure quite successfully. Never felt as unsafe as when briefly in Johannesburg though, so not 100% convinced about the successful change to a free democracy.

RSA is better than it was, though it was a tad unnerving going to the Jo'burg theme park that has heavily armed guards at the entrance. Still, no worse than parts of Marseille, Liverpool, Manchester or many US cities.
Back to the topic. I can't wait for the Express headline when DofE pops his clogs - "Diana's Revenge" perhaps ?

Robbie Coltrane and one of the pandas in Edinburgh Zoo.
Not only is it an interesting visual but also, it is my Dead Pool punt for 2012.

Please let it be Cliff Richard's turn to go this year. PLEASE!!!
Oh, and also the guy from the Go Compare adverts. Unless he takes control of his eating problem he's pretty much doomed.

Anita Mann (big band singer in the 40's) has been very ill. I choose her.
Posted 9 years ago # -
"OK, I'll see if she's here.
(shouts) Hey, everybody be quiet for a second. Anita Mann! ...Anita Mann! ...Does anyone here know Anita Mann?"

Veteran character actor Hugh Jass is on my list. He was Gloria Swanson's juvenile lead in 1921's silent "Doughboy Dreams". He will be missed by film afficianados worldwide.
