Shock decision to cancel HS2 as 23 minute saving is ‘bugger all’

The incoming Transport Minister, Justine Greening, has announced the cancellation of the High Speed 2 rail project which would have linked London and Birmingham. Speaking from her constituency home in Putney, Ms Greening said, ‘looking at the facts, it has become clear that shortening the journey time between London and Birmingham by 23 minutes isn’t really going to revive the economy.’

Gunshot sensors will keep Birmingham police well safe, say experts

Sensors used to detect fatal gunshot wounds are being deployed by police forces throughout the West Midlands. The sensors – which consist of a cardboard periscope with a telescope stuck on the end – are being installed on rooftops and high buildings in Birmingham and the rough bits of Coventry, which includes all of Coventry.
