Budget carrier launches ObeseyJet, airline of choice for the larger passenger

Budget airline easyJet has caused controversy by launching a dedicated service for today’s bigger-boned passenger, promising roomy seats, numerous cup holders and a menu boasting the best in foil-sealed freshness.

‘All we’re doing is recognising the growing demand for wide-haul flights,’ said Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of easyJet. ‘Our customers don’t want to be patronised by standard airlines charging them for two seats. We treat all our travellers like grown outs – sorry, grown ups. We give them one big seat at twice the price plus charges. Oh, and insulin. All the insulin they can eat.’

Fat people ‘not that funny’ says obesity expert

nothing to see here...Overweight celebrities such as Gavin and Stacey star James Corden are perpetuating the stereotype that all fat people are funny, a medical expert is warning. Professor Nicholas McKay of Nuffield Health says fat stars are seen as role models, helping to make it acceptable to think that obesity is linked to humour.

But a survey for the healthcare provider has now revealed that many obese people are not actually that funny.

Chip shops to ‘hide the pies’ in bid to reduce obesity

Unhealthy foods such as pies, chips and burgers are to be kept under the counter under new proposals proposed by the Department of Health. From next year, it will be illegal to advertise or display fried foods, sugary drinks ‘or any other foodstuff likely to increase the chances of obesity.’
